Clarence (Clarry) Wilfred Fleck was born on Tuesday the 26th April, 1904 within the southern section to the Township of Murrurundi, called after one of the early Settlers, Thomas Haydon, who in 1840 opened up part of his Estate for sale so that the Township could be extended to both sides of the Goulburn River.
He was the third son of Edwin Sidney Fleck a Fireman on the Steam Locomotives that were stationed in the area for the N.S.W. Government Railways, and Violet Evelyn Fleck (nee Heard)
Problems began to appear within their marriage after the birth of the second child, Cyril Sunderland Fleck on the 19th of July, 1904. Violet had been Married a few days short of her twentieth birthday, at the Christ Church, Tenterfield, following consent from her Parents, William Austin Heard & Louisa Baldwin, who lived at Penrith; her plight was enormous within her eyes, she had been married 2 months short of four years and was pregnant once again, her husband was never at home because of his job and she continually alone with two small Children - Edwin (named after his Father) was 3 years old and Cyril was 15 Months.
The strain and loneliness was too much for her, at some time during the year of 1908, Violet left her Husband, Edwin and her three young Children; unable to continue alone Edwin requested a transfer to the Running Sheds at Eveleigh, and took up house at 81 Marrickville Road, Marrickville.
The Children were farmed out to relatives and Edwin partitioned for Divorce on the grounds of separation; the Marriage was dissolved by decree of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on the 17th December, 1909 - Register No. 6775.
In 1910, Edwin re-married a Widower and School friend, named Sarah Charlton who had a 5 year old child from a previous marriage called Lily Cameron Charlton - Lily adopted her Mother's new Surname, Fleck.
