Claude was the fourth child born from the marriage of James William Fleck (Carpenter & Joiner) and Isabella Ellen McFarlane.
His birth is recorded as being delivered by Mrs. Parsonage, Midwife, at his Parents home at 154 Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, on Tuesday the 11th of June, 1889.
He received his early education at Cleveland Street School, on leaving school he was apprenticed to Louis Pattinson, Chemist, 169 Pitt Street, Sydney on the completion of his apprenticeship he worked as a registered pharmacist at Sharp's Chemist Shop, Oxford Street, Sydney and then as a registered as a Pharmacist at Granville.
When the family moved to Guilford in 1913 Claude opened his own Chemist shop his brother Cecil James, a tailor by trade became interested in pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist.
Together they opened a second shop in South Street, Granville. Claude sold his share to Cecil in order to finance himself through medical school at the University of Sydney.
In 1923 he received his Bachelor of Medicine, (M.B.) and Bachelor of Science, (B.Sc.)
During the early 1920s he started the Granville branch of the St John's Ambulance Brigade and lectured on first aid for some twenty years.
His first Practice was at his Family home called "Sunderland", William St., Granville.
During the year of 1924 he married his first wife, Aimee Isabel Hinde, he stood and was elected as an Alderman at Granville Municipal Council in 1926 remaining there until 1941; serving the Council as their Mayor from 1939 to 1941.
Following his political aspirations during the early 1930's he joined the United Australian Party and was elected to the Legislative Assembly as a Member for Granville (N.S.W. 30th Parliament) on the 11th of June, 1932 to 12th April, 1935; subsequently re-elected for a second Term, 31st Parliament, on the 11th of May, 1935 up until its dissolution on 24th of February, 1938.
Following the death of his first wife, Aimee Isabel, he married her cousin, Dorothy Isabel Hinder, in the year of 1942.
He is also accredited as inaugurating the Granville Branch of the St.John Ambulance, and in 1950 was appointed as a Serving Brother of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
He was also an active and foundation member of the Masonic Lodge, Granville.
Dorothy his second wife died on Monday the 5th of June, 1950, and on Saturday the 12th of July, 1952, he married his third wife, Mary Cunninghame; the Widow of his friend Sid Cunninghane.
Claude died on Monday the 23rd of July, 1962, at Royal North Shore Hospital, and Creamated at Rookwood Crematorium the following Wednesday; his Ashes being deposited in Rookwood's Columbarium.
