This is the last Will and Testament of me John Bressey of No 122 Kingsland Road in the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex Gentleman I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Elizabeth Bressey all my household furniture plate linen china chattels and effects being in and about my dwelling house and on premises where I may be resident at the time of my decease to and for her own sole separate and absolute use and benefit I give and bequeath to my said dear wife the interest and dividends of six thousand pounds now three and a half per cent bank annuities part of the same six thousand pounds bank annuities unto my son Thomas Bressey during his life and upon his decease I give and bequeath such three thousand pounds now three and a half per cent bank annuities unto and equally between such lawful children of my said son Thomas as shall be living at the time of his decease to be paid and payable at their respective ages of twenty one years with benefit of survivorship in case of the death of either or any of such children before attaining that age and in case of his decease without leaving lawful issue living at the time of his decease so I give and bequeath such three thousand pounds new three and a half per cent annuities to such person or persons and in such manner as my said son may by his will direct or appoint and upon the decease of my said dear wife I give and bequeath the interest and dividends of the other three thousand pounds now three and a half bank annuities part of the said six thousand bank annuities unto my son John Bressey during his life and upon his decease I give and bequeath the said last mentioned three thousand pounds bank annuities unto and equally between such lawful children of my said son John as shall be living at the time of his decease to be paid and payable at their respective ages of twenty one years with benefit of survivorship in case of the death of either or any of such children before attaining that age and in case of the decease of my said son John without leaving lawful issue living at the time of his decease I give and bequeath such last mentioned three thousand pounds bank annuities to such person or persons and in such manner as my said son John may be his will direct or appoint I give and bequeath the interest and dividends of three thousand Pounds three per cent reduced bank annuities and of one thousand pounds three per cent consolidates bank annuities unto my son Thomas Bressey during his natural life and upon the decease of my son Thomas Bressey I give and bequeath the said three thousand pounds three per cent Reduced bank annuities and one thousand pounds three per cent consolidated bank annuities unto and equally and between such lawful children of my said son Thomas Bressey as shall be living at the time of his decease to be paid and payable on their respectively attaining the age of twenty one years with benefit of survivorship in case of the death of any or either of such children before attaining that age and I call and direct that the interest and dividends of such three thousand pounds reduced bank annuities and one thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities or the proportions thereof or such part thereof as my executors shall deem necessary shall be applied during the respective minorities of such children in the maintenance education and support of such children respectively and in case of the decease of my said son Thomas Bressey without leaving lawful issue living at the time of his death I give and bequeath such three thousand pounds reduced bank annuities and one thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities to such person or persons and in such manner as my said son Thomas may by his will direct or appoint I give and bequeath the interest and dividends of ten thousand pounds three per cent reduced bank annuities unto my daughter Elizabeth now Elizabeth Tring during her natural life for her sole and separate use and independent of her present or any after taken husband not to be subject to his control debts or engagements but to be paid into her own hands or upon her receipt only and in case of the decease of my said daughter leaving her present husband James Trigg her surviving I give and bequeath to him one thousand pounds per cent reduced annuities part of the same stock to and for his own use and benefit and upon the decease of my said daughter Elizabeth leaving issue at the time of her decease I give and bequeath in case she survive her said husband the said ten thousand pounds reduced annuities or in case she do not survive him the remaining nine thousand pounds reduced annuities unto and equally between such lawful children of my said daughter Elizabeth as then be living at the time of her decease to be paid and payable on them respectively attaining the age of twenty one years with benefit of survivorship in case of the death of any or either of such children before attainment that age and I will and direct that the interest and dividends of such ten or nine thousand pounds reduced annuities as the case may be or the proportions thereof or such part thereof as my executors shall deem necessary shall be applied during their respective minorities in the maintenance education and support of such children respectively and in case my said daughter Elizabeth should die without leaving any lawful child living on the time of her decease I give and bequeath such ten thousand or nine thousand pounds reduced bank annuities as the case may be unto and equally between my two sons Thomas and John Bressey to and for their own use and benefit or to the survivor of them in case either of them shall have previously died I give and bequeath the interest and dividends of ten thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities unto my son John Bressey during his natural life and upon the decease of my said son John Bressey I give and bequeath the said sum of ten thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities unto and equally between such lawful children of my said son John Bressey as shall be living at the time of his decease to be paid and payable on their respectively attaining the age of twenty one years with benefit of survivorship in case of the death of any or either of such children before attaining that age and I will and direct that the interest and dividends of such ten thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities or the proportions thereof or such part thereof as my executors shall deem necessary shall be applied during the respective minorities of such children in the maintenance education and support of such children respectively and in case of the decease of my said son John Bressey not leaving lawful issue living at the time of his death I give and bequeath such ten thousand pounds consolidated bank annuities to such person or persons and in such manner as my said son John may by his will direct or appoint and all the rest residue and remainder of my estate property and effects of what nature or fund soever I give and devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Elizabeth Bressey to and for her own sole separate and absolute use and benefit I will and direct that my executors and trustees for the time being and their survivors shall whenever the number shall become reduced to two and otherwise also as and when they shall deem it necessary by contact under their hands appoint another person or persons to act with them in the trusts of this my Will and such person or persons so appointed shall have the same powers as if appointed by this my will and my trustees and executors shall only be made for their own respective acts and deeds and I hereby give and bequeath unto Edward Burls and James Boyer two of my Executors hereinafter named the sum of twenty pounds each as a small acknowledgement for the trouble they may have in carrying into effect the trusts of this my will and hereby revoking all former wills by me This is the last Will and Testament of me Elizabeth Bressey of No 122 Tyssen Place,
Kingsland Rd, in the Parish of St Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex, widow, first I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be fully paid and satisfied by my creditors hereinafter named with all convenient speed after my decease whereas I am possessed of or entitled to certain stock or funds now standing in the joint names of myself and my son John Bressey in the books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England and which said stock or funds although so now standing in the joint names of myself and my said son is or are in my own separate exclusive and absolute stock or funds or property now I do hereby give and bequeath unto my daughter in law Mary Ann Bressey the widow of my late son Thomas Bressey now deceased the sum of two hundred pounds stock three pounds per cent Reduced Bank Annuities part of the said stock or funds so now standing in the joint names of myself and my said son in the books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England to and for her own absolute use and benefit and I give and bequeath unto my said son John Bressey and my son in law James Trigg my executors hereinafter named and to the surviver of them and the executors or administers of such surviver the sum of one thousand pounds stock three pounds per cent reduced Bank Annuities further part of the said stock or funds so now standing in the joint names of myself and said son in the Books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England upon the trusts following that is to say upon trust that they my said trustees and executors do and shall immediately after my decease invest the said sum of one thousand pounds stock in three pounds per cent in Bank annuities in their joint names in similar or other stock funds or securities of and in the Bank of England and upon trust that they my said trustees and executors or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall from time to
time when and as the interest or dividends shall become his and payable upon or in respect of the said last mentioned sum of one thousand pounds stock three per centum reduced Bank Annuities receive such interest or dividends and pay the same sum to and into the proper hands of my Grand daughter Margaret Edgar now residing with me the daughter of my late daughter Margaret Edgar now deceased formerly the wife but afterwards the widow of John Edgar also now deceased for and during the term of her natural life to and for her own sole separate and particular use and benefit and do hereby will and direct that all such interest or dividends shall be free from and independent of and shall not be liable to the debts caused or engagements of any husband with whom my said Grand daughter shall or may at any time intermarry and I direct that the receipt or receipts of my said Grand daughter signed by her alone notwithstanding any coverture shall be a good valid and sufficient discharge and acquittance or good valid and sufficient discharges and acquaintances to my said trustees and executors for all and every sum or sums of money which in any or every such receipt or receipts shall be expressed to have been received and such receipt or receipts so signed by my said Grand daughter above shall be as valid and effectual to all intent and purposes as if she my said Grand daughter was sole and unmarried and from and immediately after the decease of my said Grand daughter upon trust that they my said Trustees and executors or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such surviver do and shall pay or transfer the said Capital sum of one thousand pounds Stock three pounds per centum Reduced Bank Annuities unto between amongst all and every the child or children of my said Grand daughter Margaret Edgar lawfully begotten and who shall be living at the time of the decease of their Mother share and share alike if more than one as tenants in common and if but one child then the whole to such one or only child dies in that my said Granddaughter shall depart this life with out leaving any child or children her surviving then I will and direct that the said capital sum of one thousand pounds stock three pounds per cent in reduced Bank Annuities shall fall into and be and become a part and parcel of and subject to the gift or bequest of any residuary estate as accordingly And as to for and concerning all the rest residing and remainder of any Estate and Effects whatsoever and whether real or personal and wheresoever the same may be situate lying or being or what nature hind or quality soever the same may be or consist with there and every of their rights members and appurtenances and which I shall or may be possessed of or be entitled to or interested in at the time of my decease I do hereby give devise and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof unto and equally to be divided between my said son John Bressey and my daughter Elizabeth Trigg the wife of the said James Trigg their heirs executors administrators or assigns absolutely share and share alike as Tenants in common and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son John Bressey and my said son in law James Trigg Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all or any former and every or any other Will or Wills or Testamentary dispositions by me at any time or times heretofore made or published and I do declare this only be and for my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Bressey have to the first two sheets of this my last Will and Testament set my hand and to the third and last sheet I thereof set my hand and seal this ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five. In the Name of God Amen. I Margaret Edger of No 96 Kingsland Road in the parish of St Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex widow being of sound and disposing mind and understanding do this twenty fourth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty seven made this my last Will and Testament Whereby I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret Edger all my plate linen china and glass I wish all my household furniture to be sold and the money produced by the sale of the above household furniture to be deposited in the National Provident Institution Bloomfield Street Finsbury Circus and whatever monies I may have there or elsewhere I give and bequeath the whole after my just debts are paid to my daughter Margaret Edger for her sole use and benefit exclusively In case of her death before she attains the age of Twenty one I wish whatever property I may be possessed of to be equally divided between my brothers Thomas and John Bressey and my sister Elizabeth Bressey In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set and subscribed my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid Margaret Edger signed sealed and delivered by the said Testator Margaret Edger as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her request and in her presence have herein unto subscribed our names as witness thereto Geo Watts George Blenkarn Witnesses I beg to request Mr Thomas Bressey to see these my last wishes carried into effect

Appeared Personally George Blenkarn of No 96 Kingsland Road in the County of Middlesex warehouseman and George Watts of no 1 Southampton Street Camberwell in the County of Surrey Wine Merchant and made oath and first the said George Blenkarn for himself saith that he is the …….. and writer of and also one of the subscribed witnesses to the last Will and Testament of a Margaret Edger formerly of No 25 Bishopsgate Street in the city of London but late of No 6 North Place Kingsland Road in the County of Middlesex widow deceased same being now hereunto annexed bearing date the twenty fourth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven beginning thus “In the Name of God Amen I Margaret Edger” ending thus “set and subscribed my hand and seal the day and year aforesaid and thus subscribed Margaret Edger and referring more particularly to the following addition to the said Will viz “I beg to request Mr Thos Bressey to see there my last wishes carried into effect he deposes and said that on perceiving and inspecting the said Will he discovered that he had omitted to insert the appointment of Mr Thomas Bressey the deceaseds brother as Executor thereof which he was previously directed to do by the said deceased and that he thereupon inserted the said Clause at the end of the said Will in manner as now appears thereon and that the said deceased then executed the said Will in the presence of him and his fellow deponent who subscribed their names as witnesses attesting the due execution thereof And the said George Watts for himself saith that he is the other subscribed witness ac to the said Will and referring to the said appointment of the said Mr Thomas Bressey as executor thereof he deposes and says that the same was made and inverted by his fellow deponent or prior to the execution of the said Will by the said deceased as aforesaid Geo Blinkarn Geo Watts On the sixteenth day of March 1840 the said George Blenkarn and George Watts were duly sworn to the Truth of the Affidavit Before me F T Pratt Jennings
PROVED at London 23 March 1840 before the worshipful Frederick Thomas Pratt Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Thomas Bressey the brother the Executor according to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer.
